It Takes a Village
From recently diagnosed - to long term survivorship, the journey of the breast cancer patient can be overwhelming. To those who have just begun this journey, take a deep breath! There are valuable resources available, and our Pink Ribbon Boutique team is happy to assist in helping you find the guidance and support you need at this difficult time.
Pink Ribbon Boutique’s owner, Terri Hadley, is a 23 year breast cancer survivor, whose journey was met with few resources. While grateful that her faith and close knit family supported her through a challenging time, she remained in a more isolated world than that which women are exposed today. She was also awakened to the need for women to have more options. When she underwent her mastectomy, there were few options, including undergarments. She was left with a plain white, nondescript bra, which created more isolation, albeit privately, from the world around her. Alas, her first-hand experience, coupled with her vision, led her to a successful career in retail, focusing on helping other women who have undergone mastectomies, to providing products to allow women to continue to feel feminine and beautiful!
In addition to the services that Pink Ribbon provides, we also work closely with the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBC), frequently recommending this organization to our clients. The DBC provides education on breast cancer diagnoses, various medical treatments, support groups resources, and many other services. They are happy to provide assistance in navigating you through what may seem a daunting journey. The DBC hosted the 21st Annual Breast Cancer Update, entitled “Survive, Revive and Thrive” on April 10, 2018. The conference featured many clinical specialists, and members of the medical community, who provided information on ways to reduce the breast cancer survivor’s risks of recurrence. Team Pink Ribbon was a vendor at the conference, and we always take valuable information from conferences of this nature.
